First edition first state matching points in Hanff Greene; Title continues: In which the Scarecrow goes to search for his family tree and discovers that he is the Long Lost Emperor of the Silver Island, and how he was rescued and brought back to Oz by Dorothy and the Cowardly Lion.; 8vo.; gray cloth covered boards with pictorial label paste-on, hardcover; 312 pages including advertisements for other oz books; black and white illustrations and 12 color plates with all plates present; both hinges are cracked and apparently repaired with a large chip out of the endpaper at the front hinge, non-authorial gift inscription in “This book belongs to” spot, boards are edgeworn, soiled and rubbed with corners and spine ends fraying, also multiple small closed tears on page edges, otherwise book is clean and unmarked and good.
